For anyone unsure about their current DAW, you could do a lot worse than Tracktion. I used to use it a lot before changing to Reaper. But, the kind people at Tracktion have decided to give away version 4 of their software absolutely free. This is not a trial or cut down version, this is a full version of Tracktion 4.
Here's what they say;
Tracktion 4 Free: Other companies may use the word 'free' in their marketing only to provide a seriously limited version of their software -not in our case. The full original T4 is now absolutely free - all we ask is that you create a user account and give us an active email address to register your copy. This version of Tracktion's DAW sports an entirely overhauled audio engine, an improved operating system and support for Mac/PC computers. Now all the members of the band can have a copy of Tracktion easily allowing sessions, parts, sounds and ideas to be shared.
Have fun, it's not for everyone, it has it's quirks, but you get a lot done quickly. I'd recommend it over many other DAWs available.
